Mission of Spirit Wind |
|
To minister to children through summer camping programs and weekend sessions during the school year, where all children will be welcome. Emphasis is on meeting the needs of children, including those who are economically deprived, neglected, abused, and/or emotionally needy. To support the independent church community and other Christian organizations by providing first class facilities where they can hold their own retreats, camps, family camps, revivals or various meetings – “A Complementary Ministry, Not Competition”. To minister to people of all ages in a retreat setting. To provide several small, secluded cabins where ministers can spend time alone with God for a time of refreshing and/or to receive His direction. To provide a place where ministers can receive ministry by others in the five-fold ministry of Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor, Teacher. To provide a training ground for those called into Christian service, by holding seminars and teaching sessions, and then to allow and encourage use of these skills and training at Spirit Wind. To provide a place and an opportunity for believers to become "servants", supplementing permanent staff by helping to maintain buildings and grounds, helping with preparation of meals, assisting in the office, etc. In other words, becoming Christ-like by becoming servants (Mark 10:42-45). To provide retreats for instruction to and fellowship with other believers. Some of these might include retreats for new believers, engaged couples, friends of the ministry, couples' weekends, singles' retreats, etc. To provide a place where anyone can come, whether they are in a crisis situation or just want to get alone with God to receive his instruction and direction. To offer (free or at low-cost) a warm, hospitable place where students from nearby colleges and universities can spend holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and Spring break when they cannot go home. Many are from foreign countries with diverse beliefs. Spirit Wind desires to offer them a warm, hospitable place to spend these holidays and observe (or participate in) the way we celebrate these seasons. |
